7th edition of the Rallye Princesse Charlène
This Thursday, April 6, the 7th edition of the Rallye Princesse Charlène took place, organized by the DENJS (Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports) in partnership with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Peace and Sport, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee and the Association des Parents d’Elèves de Monaco.
This event aims to raise awareness among schoolchildren about the values of sport on the date of April 6, International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, with various competitive activities and the presence of the Champions for Peace of Peace & Sport.
Nearly 400 students from the 3rd classes of the Principality’s schools (Charles III College, FANB Institution and the Lycée Technique et Hotelier – SEGPA section), divided into teams, participated in the three highlights of the Rally:
- A timed race on a loop between the Annonciade gymnasium and Larvotto beach, including a sports activity (rowers provided by the Société Nautique de Monaco), a solidarity activity (rescue and stretcher of a victim with the Académie Monégasque de la Mer) and an intellectual test (quiz).
- A conference on the history of sport in favour of peace, animated by Pierre Frolla, world record holder in freediving and Ambassador of the Princess Charlene Foundation, Paula Radcliffe, marathon record-woman and Ambassador of the Foundation, and Pernilla Wiberg, Olympic champion in alpine skiing.
- A creative drawing competition on the themes of sport and peace, guided by Kevin Crovetto, Monegasque gymnast and Ambassador of the Foundation and Marlène Harnois, Olympic taekwondo champion.
At the end of the activities, several prizes were awarded in the gymnasium: Camaraderie Award, 3 prizes for the best classes of each school in the race rankings, and a prize for the team selected by a jury for the best drawing.
The Rally ended with a “White Card” picture, the symbol of peace to celebrate April 6.
