Alasdair McKenzie carries the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation colours to the top of the world
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation supports the young Franco-Scottish mountaineer Alasdair McKenzie in an extraordinary sporting challenge: climbing the 14 peaks of the Himalayas in 1 year.
This exceptional challenge is a way for Alasdair to transmit his passion to the world, and to inspire other young people to take on sporting challenges of any kind. To date, only 40 people have managed to climb all the summits.
At 18, Alasdair symbolizes a youth that wishes to go beyond their limits to learn about oneself and others. In 2022, he became the record holder for the youngest mountaineer to climb the peaks of Lhotse and Makalu (over 8000m).
In 2023, Alasdair embarks on the remaining 12 summits and intends to tackle a new record: that of the youngest to climb all 14 summits.
These values of perseverance and solidarity resonate with the values upheld by the Foundation, which is committed to supporting Alasdair for each ascent he makes.
These climbs take place in extremely difficult conditions (wind, snow, equipment to check) and are subject to the vagaries of the weather.
In addition to the sporting aspect, Alasdair wishes to raise awareness of the environmental problems related to the Himalayas, by communicating on the drifts of polluting waste and making sure to limit its carbon footprint during its ascents.
