Martinique – Raising awareness of the environment & learning how to swim
In Martinique, the younger generations are made aware of the environment through learning to swim.
Since 2021, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has been supporting the Coco an Dlo association on the French island of Martinique.
This association, led by swimming champion Mrs. Coralie Balmy, was born from a desire to protect the lives of the youngest while protecting the world in which they will live.
The actions of the association raise awareness among the younger generations about the aquatic environment and are carried out thanks to Coralie’s passion, “Coco an Dlo” meaning “Coco in the water” in Creole language.
Through innovative educational tools and programs, children learn to respect nature and learn the basics of swimming – with the aim of passing the French test of aquatic fluency.
