SeaSafe au Bangladesh

SeaSafe is a joint initiative launched in 2013 through a collaboration between the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) and the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) with the primary goal of reducing the risk of drowning in the coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar.

This project is generously supported by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. SeaSafe focuses on four key components: 24/7 lifeguard services, targeted water safety education, beach safety education for tourists, and free-swimming lessons for children aged 6 to 10. To ensure beach safety, SeaSafe deploys 27 trained lifeguards across three popular beaches, providing prompt rescue assistance during the day. Water safety education programs target at-risk schoolchildren and communities, raising awareness and equipping them with preventive measures.

Beach safety education initiatives inform tourists about risks such as rip currents, tidal changes, and the importance of lifeguarded areas. Free swimming lessons are provided to children aged 6-10 to develop their confidence, skills, and understanding of water safety practices.
