Water Safety Day Calvi
The 4th edition of the “Water Safety Days” took place in Calvi in the presence of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation organized the 4th edition of the “Water Safety Days” in Calvi on Friday, June 7th, 2024, in partnership with the City of Calvi.
Intended for the city’s children, introductory workshops on rescue, first aid and water safety were held on Calvi beach.
These workshops were led by Stéphanie Barneix, ambassador of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and world champion in water rescue, as well as by her team of athletes, and benefited from the support of the SNSM (National Sea Rescue Society) and the Haute-Corse firefighters.
Fun and sporty, the workshops combine theory and practice: First aid, Local aquatic environment, Importance of water and waste management Quiz on the values of sport, Evolution in open water and swimming course, Use of rescue equipment, Board rescue and tube rescue, Role-playing and Development of observation in a situation of surveillance of a bathing place. On Friday morning, 83 children from the CM2 classes of the Calvi Loviconi school and the Calenzana elementary school took part in the workshops in the presence of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco and Mr Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. In the afternoon, the Port Xavier Colonna welcomed several associations to the port and offered activities to the public. The Water Safety Days in Calvi offer children, as well as the general public, a complete awareness program on drowning prevention and the preservation of the marine environment. These events demonstrate the commitment of the Foundation and the City of Calvi to aquatic education and the protection of the marine environment.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation warmly thanks all the partners who made the 4th edition of this day possible.
