Water Safety Day Léon
The 1st edition of the “Water Safety Days” took place in Léon in the presence of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation organized the very first edition of the “Water Safety Days” in Léon this Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, in partnership with the Municipality of Léon.
Introductory workshops on rescue, first aid and water safety were held on the beach of Lake Léon for the children of the municipality.
These workshops were led by Stephanie Barneix, ambassador of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and world champion in water rescue, as well as by her team of athletes including 3 ambassadors of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Pierre Frolla (free diver), Kevin Crovetto (gymnast) Jerome Fernandez (handball player) and benefited from the support of the Landes lifeguards and the Courant D’Huchet nature reserve. Fun and sporty, the workshops combine theory and practice: First aid, Local aquatic environment, Importance of water and waste management, Quiz on the values of sport, Evolution in open water and swimming course, Use of rescue equipment, Board rescue and tube rescue, Role-playing and Development of observation in a situation of surveillance of a bathing place.
On Tuesday morning, 140 children from 5 CM1 and CM2 classes from the schools of Léon, Lesgor, Mees, and Rion des Landes took part in the workshops in the presence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, Mr. Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, and several French personalities, followed by a rescue demonstration performed by the Landais lifeguards.
In the afternoon, and in the presence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, a presentation of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and an awareness-raising session on the importance of education through the values of sport also took place for all the children of the Léon school.
