Water Safety Day Monaco

The annual “Water Safety Day” was held on Tuesday, June 18th on Larvotto Beach.

Since 2014, this day organized by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Monegasque Academy of the Sea aims to introduce children in the Principality to sports rescue, water safety and first aid.

In the presence of Mr. Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, 95 children from the 5th grade classes of the Collège Charles II, the 6th grade classes of the François D’Assise-Nicolas Barré Institution as well as CM2 students from the Ecole de la Condamine took part in the workshops led by Pierre Frolla, Ambassador of the Foundation and four-time world record holder in freediving and his team from the Monegasque Academy of the Sea, with the support of the first aid trainers of the Monaco Red Cross.

Fun and sporty, the workshops are varied: Coastal rope rescue, Tube buoy rescue, Nipper Boards (rescue boards), Musical sticks and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

The children had the opportunity to meet champions of rescue and other sports, invited to supervise the workshops and share their experience as high-level athletes, on the occasion of this year under the sign of Olympic values, the children also had the opportunity to meet Monegasque Olympic athletes.

The presence of these champions and Olympians reinforces the message of drowning prevention and Dermet to create a positive sporting inspiration for children.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation warmly thanks all the partners who made the 2024 edition of this awareness day possible.
