The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Monegasque Iberoamericaine Association (AMI) handle an important educational structure to strengthen the impact of sport in Ecuador: the “Condores de Monaco” rugby school.
The school, created in 2021, is run by the Pichincha Rugby Association’s Huma Rugby Ecuador program in Quito. It mainly targets disadvantaged children, but its concept is aimed at all those who wish to share the universal values of sport and rugby in a spirit of camaraderie and friendship.
In the first year of the school’s existence, 120 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14 had the opportunity to play rugby together, enjoying the sport and significantly improving their quality of life. In addition, 7 teachers were trained to teach rugby.
Children learn the 5 values of rugby (discipline, respect, integrity, passion, solidarity) accompanied by the slogan of the Pichincha Rugby Association: “Rugby with an R for respect”.
Project goals:
To give healthy life goals to children and teenagers through sport.
To promote the values of rugby (discipline, respect, integrity, passion, solidarity) among young people.
To diversify sports in the northern provinces of Ecuador.
