The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation supports the Coco an Dlo association on the French island of Martinique. This association, led by swimming champion Mrs. Coralie Balmy, was born from a desire to protect the lives of the youngest while protecting the world in which they will live.
The association’s actions raise awareness of the aquatic environment among the younger generations and are carried out thanks to Coralie’s passion, “Coco an Dlo” meaning “Coco in the water” in Creole language.
Through innovative educational tools and fun workshops, children learn to respect nature and learn the basics of swimming – with the aim of passing the French ‘aquatic fluency’ test.
This hybrid and complementary project is carried out both in schools (nursery and elementary schools) and in holiday camps.
Coco an Dlo also accompanies educators in teaching swimming and provides them with tools that can be used in the pool or in class (marine animal figurines, pedagogical notebooks, etc.).
Project goals:
To give environmental awareness and swimming classes to children between the ages of 6 and 8.
To help children pass the Aquatic Fluency Test.
To train teachers to teach swimming and educate them on environmental protection.
children aged 3 to 7 learned how to swim
teachers became swimming instructors
