The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation supports the Centre de Sauvetage Aquatique et de Plongée (CSAPM) (newly called Monegasque Academy of the Sea) in its mission of raising awareness about water safety. The CSAPM integrates water safety courses into the school curriculum and organizes summer camps whose workshops combine lifesaving and marine exploration. In particular, the CSAPM launched the Water Safety Day in Monaco in 2014 with the support of the Foundation.
The goal = to offer a full day of activities combining swimming, water safety and the values of sport to the schoolchildren of the Principality.
The Water Safety Days symbolize the missions of education and of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and implement the vision of H.S.H. Princess Charlene.
Organized for the first time in Capbreton, France, in 2013, before becoming a part of the Principality’s calendar, the Water Safety Day format was then exported abroad – especially in 2019, in Bora-Bora in French Polynesia, thanks to the passion of Stéphanie Geyer Barneix and her team of lifesaving sports champions.
In 2021 and 2022, the Water Safety Days took place in Corsica, in the cities of Calvi and Saint-Florent, for several days of fun and educational activities: including lifesaving, first aid and environmental awareness workshops.
